'After teaching golf extensively for 7 years in the UK I realised that far too many people have lessons without actually playing. This is especially true for children, so I started SunshineKids to provide a structured programme which includes all aspects of the golf game' Paul Bowden.
SunshineKids began operation in 2004 and now provides golf lessons in school holidays, at schools and after school as an extra curricular sport. Our aim is to make golf fun and to help children realise their potential out on the golf course.
The curriculum that is used by the academy is tried and tested, covering learners from 5 to 16 years of age.
Sunisport was founded in 2008 to expand the business; it now accomodates not only childrens lessons, but ladies and mens tuition, golf holidays and golfing literature.
About Paul Bowden - Author of the SK Books
I am a British Qualified (A) PGA Professional with PGA registration in the UK and SA. I am the founder of SunshineKids and I believe strongly in the philosophy of Long Term athletic Development, with golf acting as the perfect vehicle on which to develop many sporting and life skills. My objective is to develop sport at grassroots level through curricular support programmes and initiatives at schools and golf clubs.
I was born in Zimbabwe but grew up in South Africa. As a kid I loved all sport including rugby, cricket and other outdoor activities. Golf became my main sport and the many hours of practice paid off with selection in regional and national golf events.
As an amateur I was a member at Royal Durban and Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. My best handicap was +1 and as a junior I was selected for the 1st team at school.
I turned professional in 2001 and then travelled to Britain to undertake the British PGA foundation degree which I was awarded in 2007 and was elected to (A) Class Professional Membership. I am now a resident of both South Africa and England servicing both countries with my unique academies.
My role as a PGA professional includes promoting the sport with the various national golf organisations, running holiday camps with my team, taking golf into schools, teaching ladies, writing golf related curricular support for my books and playing on local and national PGA events.
NEWS: I am also the author of the Gary Player junior golf workbooks which include the Grandslam Series. The books are similar to the SK Series but are specific to the Gary Player Experience based out of the Vodacom World of Golf, Woodmead, Gauteng.
About Alf Hopf
Alf Hopf is a fully qualified member of the PGA of South Africa and a regular on the Senior Pro Tour. Alf is the co-owner of Sunisport cc the holding company of SunshineKids Academies and also the Head Coaching Professional at the University Golf Academy. About Diether Schuss - PGA Apprentice
Diether is a really experienced golfer and has had an above average amateur career representing both Free State and Kwa-Zulu Natal in golf. Diether is well respected amongst his fellow professionals for being a talented golfer and a long hitter of the ball. Amongst other things has a really good sense of humour and has a good rapport with juniors. Diether believes in teaching others what he has learnt and experienced in his golfing career as an amateur and now as part of the Professional Golfers Association. He is also known as the "COBRA" amongst his fellow golfers.

My current project is writing a series of golf books, written specifically for children and targeted to their age and golf ability. The book series is structured to slowly introduce golf as a 'game for life' making golf fun but equipping youngsters with the tools necessary to 'Get out and play'. The books provide reminders of golf skills and etiquette as well as guiding them through activities and fun games to enhance practice.
